Curriculum

Havelock Montessori School adheres to the authentic Montessori philosophies. We believe that given the right material, environment, encouragement and nurturing that each child will grow and develop into an exceptional person. The teachers allow the children to work at their own pace in a safe, secure and comforting environment. This environment fosters creativity, respect and responsibility. We allow children to grow and develop their own distinctive talents and personalities.  Each child learns at their own pace in a non-competitive environment in a way that best suits they’re learning style. The classrooms are designed to promote independence in a sincere respect for the children as individuals. The teachers observe each child and keep a detailed report in order to anticipate when the child is ready for a new activity. The children are allowed large blocks of undisturbed learning time to allow them to really engage and focus on the task that they are doing. Since there is a multi-age grouping of children this allows the older children to be role models for the younger children. The younger children learn from the older children and the older children will learn from the younger children. This helps to establish a good sense of community with the children. The teachers guide the students to observe their environment and ask their own questions. The teachers also provide material and a prepared environment that allow the children to discover the answers for themselves. This makes the children eager to learn and makes the learning process enjoyable. Havelock Montessori School is committed to it's parents and students in providing exceptional quality of education. The children are not only learning they are living the curriculum.
