| Dr.
Maria Montessori developed the Montessori method in 1907. She intently
observed how children learned and developed materials along with a curriculum to
facilitate these learning methods. She believed that children are natural
learners. She also believed that if children are provided with the right
environment that the educational materials will spontaneously attract the
child’s interest and curiosity. Therefore learning could take place. Dr.
Montessori believed that children learn through their senses and when they
are able to touch, smell, taste, see or hear the lesson they learn
concepts faster and these concepts are more easily understood and
remembered.
