| At Havelock
Montessori School we appreciate that all children are special. When beginning
at a new school, or in school for the first time we understand that children
and parents may have some anxieties. Some children adjust very quickly and
others take a little longer to settle in. The staff and children will
welcome and make every effort, that your child will be as comfortable and
happy as possible. Here are a few suggestions to make the transition easier
for your child, no matter what the age. |
A)
Talk to them. Be honest and tell them that they are going to start
school where there will be many new friends and activities
B)
Drive by the school and point it out to your child.
C)
Read books and watch simple videos about going to school
D)
Visit the school as often as you wish
E)
When your child starts, you may want to try a slow integration. A
few hours the first day, a few more the second day and so on.
